Mission Statement

The Consortium For Children's Services, Inc., provides home- and center-based services that empower caregivers to promote successful emotional, physical, educational and economic outcomes for children and their families.

Vision

We envision a community in which all children and their caregivers realize their educational goals, live in safe and nurturing environments, and are economically self-sufficient.  The Consortium for Children's Services will strive to strengthen the delivery of its services to clients and expand its leadership role in the community to identify and meet the needs of children and families.

To realize this vision, The Consortium provides education and support services in conjunction with a number of government agency contracts.  The Consortium's programs offer home-based preventive education and support that targets family literacy, parent education and employment opportunities in Onondaga County, New York.  The Consortium For Children's Services supports this vision while preserving the integrity, unity and diversity of the family through the following:

  • Providing leadership in defining standards, quality and developmentally appropriate practices.

  • Basing its methodology on sound educational and scientific research to ensure quality in professional development and program implementation.

  • Offering an array of services, collaborating with partners who share similar vision and values, which support the attainment of goals identified by caregivers.

  • Empowering children and families to be self-sufficient, productive, and healthy contributors to society through advocacy and support services.

Core Beliefs

  • Every individual and family is unique, with their own strengths and ability to succeed.

  • Program implementation must respect individual learning styles and adapt methodology accordingly.

  • Parents are the first and best teachers of their children.

  • Engaging caregivers in developmentally and educationally appropriate activities with their children creating an environment that supports learning.

  • Caregivers should be empowered to access needed community resources.

  • High quality programs will be developed through scientifically based research and accurate assessment, so that positive changes in the lives of families can be achieved.

  • Program methodology will be evaluated and enhanced through continuous quality improvement.

The Consortium For Children's Services, Inc., endeavors to realize these beliefs through the strength-based provision of services to caregivers and children.

The Consortium For Children’s Services, serving Central New York for  over 30 years, is a non-profit agency with United Way funded programs that provides home- and center-based services that empower caregivers to promote successful emotional, physical, educational and economic outcomes for children and their families.
